We used a rotor tiller to get the soil ready for the water. Davey mowed the grass for parking. We had an excavator and dozer revamp the spectator area. We also built a jump!
Below are some preparation photos. This is how we stir the mud.
Mud Run '02 was a great success! The weather was beautiful. We had a great group of drivers and rigs. There was an excellent turnout of spectators and the mud was perfect!
27 vehicles entered for the first round of runs which were judged by Tom O., Mr. Mike and Joe 'friggin' Brown. The top 6 guys and girl went first in the second round after we added some more water to juice it up. The crowd then judged them on their performance in the 2nd round shootout. We then finished off the rest of the vehicles in round 2.
Below are some highlight photos from round 1.
And the finalists are.....
Tony Day - Big tires with lots of power!
Perdita Largesse - She's playing in the mud while Mike's at work.
Courtney Sierad - Puttin' a beatin' on the 73 Ford.
Louis Pilote - A little less air here than in the first round.
Jacob Bean took second place by hitting the jump on the steep side.
And the winner is...
Brant Kingsbury - With the ultimate crowd pleaser!
Thank You to the staff and everyone who helped make Mud Run '02 possible. Especially to the skidder operators Nelson Boire and Randy Dobson and to Dominic Gilbert and Todd Martel who spent the day down in the pit dragging cable thru the mud. Great Job!
Thank You to the Colebrook Fire Department crew, David and the boys, without you our mud would have been dust and the trucks would have left tracks on Rte.3 for miles.
Thank You Tom O and Mr. Mike from WTOS. You guys do a great job with the publicity, the on air time and the MCing.
